McCain's a Socialist!
Or at least he used to be, this was the guy who I was pulling for in 2000 and didn't show up to this election at all.
By the way, Socialism is not the same thing as the Nazis (Facism) or the Soviets (bastardized Communism). Just a brief -ism lesson.

Colin Powell endorses Obama, not the bigger story of the interview!
Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama this morning on Meet the Press. I could almost forgive him for helping to sell us Iraq just for that. Yet, the statement that he made about Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan during his endorsement was much more poignant for me.
"Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer is no. That's not America. Is there something wrong with a seven-year-old Muslim-American kid believing he or she could be president? Yet I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion that he is a Muslim and might have an association with terrorists. This is not the way we should be doing it in America.
I feel particularly strong about this because of a picture I saw in a magazine. It was a photo essay about troops who were serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. And one picture at the tail end of this photo essay, was of a mother at Arlington Cemetery and she had her head on the headstone of her son's grave. And as the picture focused in, you could see the writing on the headstone, and it gave his awards - Purple Heart, Bronze Star - showed that he died in Iraq, gave his date of birth, date of death, he was 20 years old. And then at the very top of the head stone, it didn't have a Christian cross. It didn't have a Star of David. It has a crescent and star of the Islamic faith. And his name was Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan. And he was an American. He was born in New Jersey. He was fourteen years old at the time of 9/11, and he waited until he could serve his country and he gave his life."

Awesome quote General. Here's a bit more information about the young soldier he was speaking of:

Oh my dear lord
Using religion as a basis for voting is ridiculous. What church someone goes to should have little to no importance in ANY election, unless you're voting for a church council (do they do that? I haven't been to church in YEARS!) Just scary, and let's just not get started on the racism. I shudder to think that these people vote. Alexander Hamilton's idea that some people should not be allowed to vote looks more attractive to me every election.

Who says I'm too pro-Obama?

A break from my Metaphysics homework:
An interesting "what if?" scenario (well, interesting to me):
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if Obama were the candidate who was unfaithful and left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Obama were a member of the Keating-5?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe Obama would be where he is now?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.
Which team would you hire?
With America facing historic debt, 2 wars, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc.
Educational Background:
Obama:
Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude
vs.
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899

How is it?
* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic,
different."
* Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you are the quintessential American
story.
* If your name is Barack, you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* If you name your kids Willow, Trig, and Track, you're a maverick.
* Graduate from Harvard Law School and you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.
* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first
black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive
that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law
professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over
750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services
committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of
13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign
Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't
have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council
and 6 years as the mayor of a town with fewer than 7,000 people, 20 months as
the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to
become the country's second highest ranking executive.
* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2
beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real
Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your
disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.
* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the
proper use of birth control, and how to avoid sex predators, you are eroding the
fiber of society.
* If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other
option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen
daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.
* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a
prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community,
then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent
America 's.
* If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DUI
conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and
once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the
USA, your family is extremely admirable.
